A French nursing home company is holding a Street Fighter 6 tournament that pairs seniors with younger players, who will battle it out to win a trip to Evo France in October.

Fighting games are for every age, as one nursing home group in France is showing the world that even the elderly can put together a beastly combo or two.

Domitys is one of the leading senior residence companies in Europe, with locations across France, Belgium, and Italy, with current expansions underway in Asia.

Its primary base of operations is in France, where it has 250 senior living centers — four of which are participating in a fighting game tournament with a big trip on the line.

Seniors duke it out in Street Fighter 6 tournament

Named ‘Domitys Cup,’ this tournament circuit brings together pairs of one young person, from 18-30 years old, and one senior, 60+ years old.

While they’re offering the ability for young players to sign up and be automatically paired with a senior living in the home, players can join with their parents or grandparents if they want a shot at competing. The competition is meant to include everyone.

There are several regional qualifying rounds that will take place throughout September 2025, with each round organized into a single-elimination bracket with a best-of-three format.

This means that, unlike traditional fighting game tournaments, if the team loses one set, they’re out — but they’ll have three matches to show off their skills.

The circuit culminates in a ‘national final’ at Evo France on October 10, 2025, in a single-elimination bracket with a best-of-five format. Winners will have their travel and accommodations paid for as part of their reward.

Thus far, the grand prize for the finals has not yet been established, but the tournament will be broadcasted on Kayane’s channel, a female fighting game pro from France who is famous for her top finishes at tournaments for the Soul Calibur series.

In fact, she’s even uploaded a series of simplified tutorial videos on YouTube to help the senior players understand the game.

Both Kayane and Domitys have been promoting the tournament on social media, sharing photos and videos of the seniors learning combos alongside their younger training partners.

“No more joking around in Montpellier,” the company wrote on X. “As the regional final approaches, the seniors are motivated and starting to string together combos!”

“I see that they’re training hard,” Kayane responded. “Super excited to see the result of their efforts in the coming weeks!”
