A new Shotgun added to Black Ops 6 has completely taken over the meta, and many players feel that it’s “ruined” matches ever since it was introduced.

The Olympia Shotgun is a staple of the Black Ops series, appearing in every entry except for BO4. Despite this, it was missing from Black Ops 6’s roster of weapons at launch.

This all changed during Season 4 Reloaded, when it arrived as a free reward in the Beavis and Butt-Head event, meaning that any player can get hold of it by simply playing matches and earning XP before the July 17 cutoff.

However, it’s quickly become a controversial option, as it’s no longer classed as a primary weapon, instead falling into the ‘Special’ secondary category. This essentially means that players can equip the double-barrel Shotgun to any loadout and still run an Assault Rifle, SMG, or any other primary gun without Overkill.

Black Ops 6 players are already sick of Olympia Shotgun

The ability to run a Shotgun in every match with no consequences has meant that Olympia is now a common sight in nearly every multiplayer lobby, and players are already growing tired of being gunned down by it.

“The Olympia has ruined multiplayer,” said one frustrated fan on Reddit, before adding: “Anytime a OHKO weapon is a meta pick, the multiplayer experience jumps off a cliff. Snipers are one thing since the skill floor is higher than most guns. But when it’s a shotgun, the game just isn’t fun.”

“If it wasn’t a secondary, it MIGHT be bearable, but the fact that it isn’t is just laughable,” they continued.

They were far from alone, either, as there have been plenty of other posts calling it “broken,” given that it can kill an enemy in one shot at very close range or two-tap from around 12 meters.

Search and Destroy, in particular, has been taken over by the Olympia since it arrived, with most players running their favorite primary to cover mid to long range, with the pocket Shotgun on hand for close-quarters fights.

“Genuinely baffling that the devs added a pocket secondary shotgun that 1 shots from 8-10ft away,” posted another fan on Reddit. “Every engagement in S&D is now sliding around a corner getting one-tapped with a shotgun.”
