Overwatch dev confirms nerfs to heroes that have dominated Season 1

Overwatch associate game director Alec Dawson has confirmed that nerfs are on the way for two of the heroes that have dominated Season 1.

The Season 1 update shook up the Overwatch meta in a big way, not only by bringing the usual balancing changes, but also by introducing five new heroes. As expected, some of these new faces have become the go-to pick in their respective roles.

Jetpack Cat, in particular, has been a popular Support option, to the point that many players are banning her in competitive. Meanwhile, Domina has taken over the Tank category, becoming another hero that fans love to ban.

Now, it’s been confirmed that both are set to receive nerfs very soon.

Nerfs coming to Jetpack Cat and Domina in Overwatch

In a February 20 interview with Deemzies, Alec Dawson revealed that the team is working on nerfs to Jetpack Cat — specifically her Perks Claws Out and Territorial.

“So we’re going to be nerfing those sometime early next week, and in the mid-season we’ll perhaps be adding a new Perk and getting rid of the Territorial as well,” he explained. “The amount of aggression she has right now, you know, [she can] fly at someone, use the claws, press the E, and she can be very lethal in a pretty short window. So we want to pull that out just a tad.”

Jetpack Cat isn’t the only hero who’s about to be on the receiving end of a buff, though, as Dawson also confirmed that Domina will be getting some changes.

“Domina has a high ban rate as well, I mean, she’s pretty strong [at] launch. We’re going to be looking at some things to tone her down as well,” he added. However, he didn’t give any clues as to what these changes will look like or when they will arrive.
