Blizzard has revealed a new era of Overwatch, and it includes five brand-new heroes all joining the roster at the same time.
At the Spotlight 2026 event, the devs revealed their plans for the coming year, starting with the decision to drop the 2 from the game’s name and go forward as ‘Overwatch.’ They also announced plans for the first-ever connected storyline titled “The Reign of Talon,” which begins with Season 1 on February 10.
As part of this new story-driven chapter of the long-running hero shooter, it’s been confirmed that five new faces are being thrown into the mix, marking the biggest single release of fresh characters since OW2 launched in 2022.
Five new heroes coming to Overwatch with more to follow
All five of these heroes will arrive in-game with the Season 1 update on February 10, and they are:
- Domina (Tank)
- Emre (Damage)
- Mizuki (Support)
- Anran (Damage)
- Jetpack Cat (Support)
All of these characters will play a key role in the ongoing battle between Overwatch and Talon that will make up the game’s narrative going forward. Domina, Emre, and Mizuki will be fighting for Talon, while Anran and Jetpack Cat will be supporting the Overwatch team.
As we’ve come to expect, each will have their own distinct playstyle. Emre is a fully-fledged soldier with a burft rifle for his primary; Domina controls the map with tough barriers, and Mizuki is a healer with a deadly spinning blade.

Meanwhile, Anran manipulates fire to her advantage, while Jetpack Cat offers support from the air and can transport allies around.
For fans clued up on their OW lore, we’ve actually seen all of these faces before in some capacity. Domina was shown in a recent animated short focused on Vendetta, while Anran is the older sister of Wuyang, who controls fire and was also shown to have an Overwatch invitation in the “Elemental Kin” trailer.
Emre has also been a long-rumored hero after first appearing all the way back in 2018, while Jetpack Cat is a character who was previously scrapped after being in development, and fans have been desperate to see it ever since.
If you want to test out Anran ahead of time, she has a hero trial going live from February 5 until February 10, giving you five days to get used to her kit before the four others drop.
This is far from the last hero release, either, as Blizzard also revealed during the Spotlight event that it plans to roll out five more characters before the end of 2026, meaning we get 10 in total this year.
