Paradise is a TV drama that asks big questions, with Season 1 a whodunnit where the killer was found, and Season 2 a series of mini-mysteries, the biggest of which will be solved by the final episode.
The first season of Paradise saw Secret Service agent Xavier Collins investigating the murder of his friend and boss, who just happened to be the US President. Then there was also the big reveal of earth being screwed, and everyone living in an underground bunker.
Season 2 changed the game by kicking off with an episode that focused on brand-new character Annie, before returning to Xavier in Episode 2, then back to the bunker in Episode 3.
Along the way new mysteries emerged, including what Link’s group want, and why those nosebleeds are afflicting multiple characters. But the biggest question Episodes 1-3 asked will definitely be answered.
We’ll find out who Alex is by the end of Paradise Season 2
Episode 1 of Paradise Season 2 revolved around Annie and her time in Graceland, during which she falls for handsome stranger Link. But Annie turns down the chance to leave with him, crying behind a locked door as he pleads with her to come.
During that sequence, Annie overhears Gieger speaking to Link and reminding him that they are heading to the bunker to “kill Alex.” That prompt gets him moving, but leaves us in the dark, as much like Annie, we don’t know who Alex is.
That won’t be for long, however, as Paradise executive producer and writer John Hoberg has said the answer is coming. “I want people to ask, who the hell is Alex?” Hobert told The Hollywood Reporter.
“The one thing with this show is that we answer questions. That’s really important. That was important to [creator] Dan [Fogelman] from the beginning. We’ll pose questions and we will answer them, and bring up new questions. So if you’re wondering if you will find out who Alex is, you will find out who Alex is.”
What to expect from Season 3
Paradise has had a very specific three-season arc from the beginning, meaning it’s unlikely to go beyond that, as Hoberg explained: “We know what the end is. And it’s an end that would make it very difficult to make a Season 4 come afterward.”
As for what to expect from Season 3, Hoberg said: “We knew we were in the bunker Season 1, and we knew we were going out and Xavier was going to look for his wife [in Season 2]. We also knew that we were headed for a collision of two different worlds.
“It is setting up that there’s a lot of things going on in two different places. And if I were a viewer, I would wonder if those two different things might come together at some point.”
