A Georgia police department is going viral after issuing a humorous warning to parents when a canned martini was reportedly found inside a student’s lunchbox.

The City of South Fulton Police Department shared the advisory in a social media post on February 25, urging parents to double-check what kids are bringing to school after officers received reports of alcoholic drinks mixed in with regular lunches.

“Say, Twin… Before you send them babies off to school… CHECK. THE. LUNCHBOX,” the department wrote. “Because why are we getting reports of juice boxes sitting next to… Cutwater margaritas??”

The post included a photo showing a child’s lunchbox filled with snacks, including a canned Cutwater Lemon Drop Martini. The ready-to-drink cocktail contains alcohol and is intended for adults.

Authorities leaned into humor throughout the message, writing: “That is NOT Capri Sun. That is NOT Apple Juice. That is a whole ‘Parent had a long night’ starter pack.”

The department also joked about a student arriving at school with the drink, adding: “Now little Johnny done pulled up to 3rd period talking about: ‘Who wants fruit snacks?’ knowing good and well he got a Lemon Drop Martini in the zipper pocket.”

Police remind parents to double-check school lunches

While the tone of the post was playful, officials said the message was meant as a reminder for parents during busy mornings.

“We know mornings can be hectic… But your child shouldn’t be the only one in the cafeteria with a beverage that requires an ID,” the statement read.

The department shared a “Quick Parent Checklist,” listing homework and lunch as approved items while marking “alcoholic beverages” with three red X’s.

“If it says 12% ABV… it does NOT belong next to a PB&J,” the post concluded.
