Peacemaker Season 2 just revealed its biggest twist: the alternate dimension is a world where the Nazis won World War II. However, there’s a small detail many people have missed – including James Gunn.

Everything seemed great when Peacemaker first arrived in the other dimension. His father is alive and appears to be a nice person, his brother isn’t dead, Harcourt loves him, and he’s a beloved superhero. Also, he didn’t murder Rick Flag Jr.

In Episode 6, as Adebayo was chased down by Keith and every white person in the neighborhood, Chris discovered the horrifying truth: they’re in Earth X, a version of our world where most people (apart from the Sons of Liberty, presumably) are Nazis.

Episode 7 will deal with the consequences (and feature another cameo from Superman). Until then, fans have been poring over the big reveal, and they’ve found a scary Easter egg.

Peacemaker Season 2 Episode 6 hid a scary detail James Gunn missed

At the end of Episode 6, as Adebayo runs down the road, look at the mail boxes. As others have pointed out, they look like white crosses, with viewers presuming it was a nod to the Ku Klux Klan.

“Was the framing of the boxes almost looking like Klan white crosses intentional? I have to admit I thought that’s what they were at first,” one user asked Gunn on Threads.

After seeing a screenshot, he replied: “Oh wow. No. I wish I could take credit for that but I never noticed it till now.”

Gunn directed Episode 6, but it could be the work of the show’s production designers. Either way, it’s another haunting detail from the reveal, alongside the swastika on the American flag and Keith shouting, “One got out… a Black!”

“This is my favorite shot in Peacemaker, and one detail I just noticed is that the mailboxes kinda look like white crosses. How cool is that?” one user wrote.

“The mailboxes looking like crosses. Somebody save her immediately. I need next week’s episode NOW,” another posted.

Episode 7 is expected to dig deeper into the ramifications of Chris and co. being in Earth X, but if you think you’ve got it figured out (will David Corenswet appear as Overman? Who knows!), expect the unexpected.

“If you guys think you have these characters all figured out and put into a nice little hole, next week’s episode might show you that’s not the case,” Gunn also wrote.
