Popular Twitch streamer and music producer PlaqueBoyMax is finally making content again after being hospitalized for three weeks due to a severe skin infection from his tattoos.

Tattoos, much like piercings, are essentially aesthetic ‘wounds’ that must be carefully cleaned and maintained to heal properly — a lesson PlaqueBoyMax learned the hard way.

The streamer, known for collaborations with rappers like DDG and Wiz Khalifa, was initially hospitalized on September 15 after waking up with extreme pain in his shoulder to the point that he was vomiting on his way to the emergency room.

Over the ensuing weeks, he would sporadically update concerned fans via short videos on social media, urging them to be thankful for their health and thanking them for their support.

Initially, doctors worried he’d dislocated his shoulder. Later, a different hospital found that he had an infection, but the exact nature of his illness eluded them. In one video, Max claimed his medical team had “never seen an infection like this,” saying his arm “hurt like hell” and he could “barely walk.”

Finally, three weeks later, Max has finally gotten answers about the cause of his infection, which he says resulted from failing to clean his tattoos properly.

PlaqueBoyMax says he got skin infection from new tattoos

The streamer updated his viewers on October 8, revealing that he’d recently gotten a piece done on his chest and collarbone that he hadn’t maintained. The skin got infected, causing symptoms like his painful shoulder and difficulty walking.

“I guess that I wasn’t taking care of my tattoo. It got super badly infected or some bullsh*t, which is crazy,” he said, joking that he would still get tattoos in spite of the “wake up call” his health scare gave him.

“Be careful when y’all get tattoos,” he warned. “Make sure y’all take care of y’all skin, because the sh*t will f**k up, bro. You could get an infection, and you don’t want to get an infection. That sh*t is not fun. I didn’t even know that was possible.”

He went on to demonstrate that he can lift his arm nearly above his head, but is still recovering and using IVs until he gets completely healthy again.

Fans offered their well-wishes to the streamer, who also gave an emotional shoutout to fellow streamers Silky, Kaysan, and Stableronaldo for visiting him in the hospital the same day he got admitted.
