Pluribus is the perfect breeding ground for theories and interpretations, but every now and then the show drops a clue that isn’t up for debate – and Google Earth may have just exposed one of the clearest “spoilers” yet.
Episode 6 of the Apple TV series wasted no time in revealing what left Carol so horrified: body parts. It turns out The Others have been harvesting the dead and engaging in a little anthropophagy (aka human cannibalism) to keep themselves sustained.
This information was delivered via John Cena playing, well, a Joined John Cena. Next up is Pluribus Episode 7, which is set to see the cantankerous Manousos (Carlos-Manuel Vesga) making his way to Carol (Rhea Seehorn).
But given the unpredictability of the show, what happens between now and the finale is anyone’s guess, but some fans think they’ve discovered a spoiler from the most unexpected of places: Google Earth.
Google Earth reveals Pluribus “spoiler”
You see, Vince Gilligan had Carol’s cul-de-sac in Albuquerque, New Mexico custom-built for the Apple TV show, and if you take a look at its Historical Imagery on Google Earth in August 2024, you’ll see the words “come back” slap bang in the middle of the street.
This was spotted by a Pluribus fan, who looked up the exact coordinates – 35°09’55.4″N 106°44’46.4″W – to find this message. What’s interesting is that if you go back in time to August 2023 or forward to March 2025, the words are no longer there.
Given filming took place between February to September 2024, it seems this message was purposely used for the show. Perhaps Carol is trying to communicate with the hive mind – or she’s visited by another outsider.
The Redditor who made this discovery wrote, “After hearing that Vince Gilligan had a whole neighborhood built, I wanted to check it out for myself. To my surprise, there is a huge message painted in Carol’s cul-de-sac that says ‘Come Back’.
“I would assume this is directed towards the Hive, which would mean they completely cut off contact with Carol and she is trying to get their attention…”
One responded, “Carol really misses that f**kable pirate lady, huh?” While another wrote, “Wow, never thought someone can get a spoiler in this way.”
Others have been further speculating on what it could mean, and whether Carol manages to drive the hive mind further away.
“I’d assume Carol finds a cure type thing but now the Hive actively is keeping a distance so there’s no way of administering the cure to them,” said one.
Another commented, “I assume it’s a mix of her wanting some sort of connection again (Zosia) and needing to continue her research on how to reverse it all.”
A third speculated, “This is visible from the sky only – it’s not for the hive. Maybe it’s the hive asking for its mama alien to come back on earth where it left them. Carol can just use the phone.”
And a fourth chimed in, “Maybe it’s not for the hivemind. If theories about Manousus are confirmed he might be a pilot and this might be for him if he visits then leaves.”
Or, you know, maybe Gilligan planted the message there specifically for this reason – to mess with us. Stranger things have happened (especially in the world of Pluribus).
