Pokemon FireRed and Pokemon LeafGreen are officially coming to Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2 on February 27, 2026.
The Pokemon Company confirmed the beloved Game Boy Advance remakes will return digitally during this year’s Pokemon Day celebrations, going live immediately after the latest Pokemon Presents broadcast. Both titles will be playable across Switch and Switch 2 at launch.
Pokemon FireRed Version and Pokemon LeafGreen Version originally launched in 2004 as enhanced remakes of the 1996 Kanto games. They upgraded the visuals, added wireless features, and expanded the postgame while preserving the classic Pallet Town journey.
For their 30th anniversary re-release, the games will be download-exclusive, and each version will cost $19.99 USD and £16.99 GBP.

The eShop listings also confirm that Pokemon HOME support is on the way. Connectivity will not be available at launch but will arrive in a future update, allowing players to transfer Pokemon into Pokemon HOME.
Both games will also feature the Pokemon Wireless Club, where players can trade, battle, and chat with other trainers via local multiplayer.
The Sevii Islands, a seven-island postgame region that continues the Team Rocket storyline and unlocks Johto Pokemon after the Elite Four, will also be included in the digital release.
Japan is also getting a premium collector’s bundle via Pokemon Center Online. The special edition includes a download card packaged in a recreated Game Boy Advance-style box alongside bonus display items themed after the original releases.
More announcements are expected throughout 2026, as the series celebrates its 30th anniversary.
