The Pokemon Go Memories in Motion season is here to revamp Niantic‘s game with key changes, including more Shiny creatures, Daily Discoveries, and a ton of themed events.

This new season pushes Pokemon Go into a more structured schedule with Daily Discoveries, permanent Special Research, and expanded Shiny availability – including evolved creatures appearing Shiny in the wild.

Alongside rotating Raids and Egg lineups, the return of a Mythical, a new Go Battle League season, and progression systems like the GO Pass, Niantic’s roadmap packs each month with reasons to log in.

Check the season dates, events, tasks, juicy rewards, and all the details.

The Memories in Motion season will run from Tuesday, March 3, 2026, at 10:00 AM until Tuesday, June 2, 2026, at 10:00 AM local time.

This follows directly from the Precious Paths season, which brought Nacli and Clobbopus (along with their evolutions) to the game, along with Gigantamax Meowth and more.

Gigantamax Pikachu

Since the Max Out season introduced both Dynamax and Gigantamax forms to Pokemon Go, new creatures with these capabilities have been making their way into the game.

For the first time in Niantic’s game, players will have the chance to encounter Pikachu in its Gigantamax form in Power Spots. Upon defeat, trainers will earn the chance to catch it.

But that’s not all, as Dynamax Regice and Dynamax Pikachu will also be added to the game, with more to come, surely.

Pokemon debuts

This season will focus on Pokemon’s 30th anniversary, so the debuts won’t be tied to a single region. Instead, players can expect the introduction of Flittle and its evolution, Espathra, as well as Dottler and Orbeetle.

Big returns

Fan favorite Legendaries will return to 5-Star Raids, including Zacian, Zamazenta, Regieleki, Articuno, Zapdos, and Moltres.

The Pressure Rising Special Research will be available to all trainers for free starting March 3, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. local time. Upon completion, players will be rewarded with an encounter with the Mythical Pokemon Volcanion.

This Special Research does not expire, so you can progress through it at your own pace. Keep in mind that if you already got a Volcanion from the Pokemon Go Fest 2025, you will get Volcanion Candy instead.

More Shinies!

Starting March 3, 2026, any evolved Pokemon that appears in the wild can be Shiny as long as its Shiny version has already been debuted in Pokemon Go.

In addition, trainers will have increased chances of encountering a Shiny Pokemon in Raids and Eggs compared to wild encounters.

Any Pokemon rescued from Team GO Rocket that has had its Shiny debut can be Shiny Shadow. Trainers will have increased chances of rescuing a Shiny Pokemon from Team GO Rocket leaders (Giovanni, Sierra, Arlo, and Cliff) compared to Grunts.

Daily Discoveries

Starting with the Memories in Motion season, Pokemon Go will introduce Daily Discoveries, a new rotating feature that assigns specific bonuses to each day of the week. These perks run from 12:00 a.m. to 11:59 p.m. local time – unless stated otherwise.

*Max Battles will be available from 6 – 9 PM local time. Power Spots availability will be limited outside of Max Mondays and Max Battle Days.

** These bonuses only apply to in-person trades.
