Pokemon Go’s latest update began rolling out on October 15, introducing a major trainer-level rebalance that raised the level cap from 50 to 80 and adjusted XP requirements across the board. The change also gave players rewards for every level they received during the update.
As part of the rollout, trainers received thousands of items at once, including Pokeballs, potions, and storage upgrades tied to each level milestone. Because these rewards were granted simultaneously, many players found their item bags overflowing.
The overfilled inventories have prevented players from spinning Pokestops or receiving items from gifts until they manually clear space. Some users reported receiving over a thousand items in one update, with even bag expansion rewards unable to offset the sudden increase.
“POV: you opened the newly updated Pokemon Go and received all of the previous level reward items at once,” said X user Livie. In her screenshot, you can see she now has 2,891 items in her bag, which is only supposed to hold 1,700.
Another shared: “Thanks, Pokemon Go. Love the trainer level update, causing my storage to be this now. Looks like I’m not spinning a pokestop until 2026.”
In their screenshot, you can see that they have 3,187 items in their bag, which is only supposed to hold 2,350.
All of the affected PoGo players can solve the issue by just deleting the right amount of items from their bag, but many consider the rewards too good to get rid of.
The leveling overhaul also removed Level-Up Research tasks for levels 41–50 and introduced new ones for levels 71–80.
Additional rewards include expanded storage for Pokemon, gifts, and postcards, plus new avatar items. Trainers at level 15 and above now receive a new “Daily Adventure Egg,” which hatches once per day for 10,000 XP.
