A sharp-eyed Pokemon fan may have spotted the first Shiny Pokemon in Pokemon Legends Z-A — but only in the Japanese version of the game’s latest trailer.

The Japanese overview trailer, titled “Pokémon LEGENDS Z-A Nintendo Switch 2 Edition 紹介映像,” premiered on October 2. At exactly 1:09, during a battle against a Bunnelby, viewers can see a yellow Pidgey perched on an orange canopy.

The bird stays in frame for several seconds, turning slightly to reveal a duller-colored Pidgey in the background. While the two aren’t drastically different, the color contrast has convinced some players that the bright yellow version is a Shiny variant.

A user named Northrixbr on X posted a screenshot of the moment, writing, “Literally a shiny Pidgey in today’s Pokemon Legends Za Trailer.” However, players quickly pointed out that the image wasn’t in the English-language trailer. The Bunnelby fight still appears, but the background has been swapped, omitting the yellow Pidgey entirely.

When asked where the screenshot came from, Northrixbr clarified: “HEY! I had seen the trailer in Japanese and in English, but I didn’t realize they were different… Sorry. It’s at 1:09 in the Japanese one.”

The discovery has sparked debate in the Pokemon community, as both versions of the trailer are nearly identical aside from this detail. That makes the Shiny Pidgey sighting a blink-and-you’ll-miss-it moment — and potentially the first confirmed Shiny appearance in Pokemon Legends Z-A.
