Pokemon fans can now bond with their favorite creatures in a whole new way thanks to Takara Tomy’s newly released Poke-Nade Monster Ball, a Tamagotchi-style virtual pet shaped like a Pokeball.
The handheld device officially launched in Japan on October 11, 2025, and is now available through import sellers worldwide for around $90–$100 USD. It allows players to pet, feed, and play with their chosen Pokemon using physical touch sensors built into the Pokeball’s surface. The more affection and attention players give, the stronger the bond becomes.
The Poke-Nade Monster Ball features 157 species in total. Seven are “Partner Pokemon” each with full voice lines and expressive animations, while the remaining “Friend Pokemon” offer simplified reactions and moods. A built-in LCD screen displays their emotions, status, and responses to player actions.
The seven Partner Pokemon are Pikachu, Eevee, Lucario, Sylveon, Quaxly, Fuecoco, and Sprigatito.
Tamagotchi-style Pokemon without the fear of death
Unlike classic Tamagotchi devices, Pokemon in the Poke-Nade Monster Ball can’t die. Instead, they can become sad or distant if neglected, encouraging gentle, consistent care rather than punishment. Players can also switch between English and Japanese language modes, making it friendly for international buyers.
The device runs on four AAA batteries and supports mini-games, feeding interactions, and a friendship diary that logs daily activities. Takara Tomy says the goal is to “create a deeper connection between players and their Pokemon,” blending nostalgia with new technology.
The Poke-Nade Monster Ball is available now from retailers including Play-Asia, Wafuu, and Meccha Japan. No global release has been announced yet, but it can be imported while stock lasts.
