Pokimane and LilyPichu have canceled an episode of their Sweet N Sour podcast that featured Twitch streamer Hasan Piker, who is facing backlash over an alleged incident involving his dog.
In a message posted on October 11, the creators announced that they would be skipping their scheduled Saturday upload due to the ongoing drama.
“This is a tough one to write, but we wanted to give you all a heads up that we’re unfortunately going to be missing our first scheduled Saturday video tomorrow,” they wrote. “We’ve been watching the recent drama unfold concerning our guest, and it’s been getting intense. We had a serious talk as a crew, and we all agreed that it did not feel right uploading tomorrow’s episode at this moment in time.”
They added that the decision was made to protect the podcast’s usual tone, writing that their goal was to keep the space “comfy” and “a true escape.”
Hasan controversy explained
The controversy centers on a viral clip from Hasan’s stream showing his dog, Kaya, reacting off-camera after moving from a spot. Viewers claimed the reaction was caused by a shock collar, leading to widespread criticism across social media.
Hasan has denied using any shock feature, explaining that the collar only vibrates and that Kaya’s yelp was unrelated to the device. He later demonstrated the collar on stream and accused critics of misrepresenting the situation.
Animal rights group PETA has since responded, calling for further scrutiny over the use of such collars.
Pokimane and LilyPichu ended their post thanking fans for their support, writing: “Thanks for always supporting our vision for a fun, positive place to hang out. See you all next week.”
