Streaming stars Pokimane and LilyPichu are still unsure if they’ll attend TwitchCon after Valkyrae and QTCinderella dropped out due to safety concerns.
TwitchCon is Twitch’s annual event for streamers, staff, and fans to get together and celebrate the previous year of streams. It has been massive over the years, especially as fans have the chance to meet their favorite streamers.
The meet and greet are typically policed by Twitch, but there is also every chance you can bump into a content creator while they’re roaming the convention floor. This has become an increased safety concern over the years, with a number of streamers having upsetting encounters with attendees.
A number of streamers have already pulled out of this year’s event in San Diego. HasanAbi dropped out citing concerns about the safety of others, while QTCinderella and Valkyrae canceled due to being “afraid” of “weird” viewers.
Poki & LilyPichu still unsure about TwitchCon
Pokimane and LilyPichu are also supposed to appear, however, the Sweet n’ Sour podcast hosts aren’t too sure.
“I have an artist alley booth, I have to go. I might cancel my meeting. I think a lot of people are… I’m not in the mood to meet people lately,” Lily said. “When Rae told me that, that’s what concerned me enough to be like, ‘Should we be concerned?”” Poki added.
“It’s a tough situation where, classic case of like, one bad apple ruins the bunch. It always makes me think back to Christina Grimmie. It really just takes one bad encounter, you never know.”
Grimmie, who was a popular singer and YouTuber, was shot and killed during a meet and greet back in 2016.
Prior to canceling, QTCinderella also cited the murder of Japanese streamer Airi Sato in March 2025 as one of the reasons for not attending TwitchCon.
