Two men dubbed the ‘Hamburglars’ by police have been arrested in Ohio after allegedly stealing more than 300 pounds of hamburger and sausage meat from a local food pantry.

According to The Independent, officers apprehended 32-year-old Juan Anguiano and 24-year-old Justin Flint after the pair broke into a freezer at the Union City Help Center, a nonprofit that distributes food to local families in need.

Police said the suspects stole around 315 pounds of hamburger and sausage, along with two boxes of pies with eight pies each, a box of 36 hot dogs, 24 packs of bacon, and 24 loaves of bread.

Anguiano and Flint were booked into the Randolph County Jail, where both face felony burglary and theft charges, which could carry several years in prison if convicted. Police also said Flint may be linked to a series of recent car break-ins in the area.

In a tongue-in-cheek Facebook post, the Union City Police Department announced that they had “successfully captured not one, but two local Hamburglars after a daring (and deeply misguided) freezer break-in at the Union City Help Center.”

The department also thanked locals for helping identify the suspects, adding, “Your cooperation and support keep our city safe and ensure that the only hamburgers being stolen around here are from fast-food drive-thrus – legally purchased, of course.”
