Tempe police officers made sure one Arizona resident still got their Hot-N-Ready pie after arresting the Grubhub driver delivering it.
A viral video posted on July 12 by the Tempe Police Department shows bodycam footage of two officers pulling over a driver working for Grubhub.
After placing the suspect in custody, the officers took it upon themselves to complete the delivery, Little Caesars pizza and all.
“When a delivery driver was arrested during a traffic stop, our officers made sure the pizza still got to the customer,” the department captioned the clip. “The order was Hot-N-Ready, and the suspect was Caught-N-Steady.”
Grubhub responds after police arrest driver and deliver order
The arrest took place over the Fourth of July weekend. Police did not reveal why the driver was taken into custody.
“We’re committed to serving our community 24/7—whether it’s safety or pizza delivery,” Tempe PD added.
The video, which has racked up over 130,000 views on X, shows the shocked recipient thanking the officers for dropping off her food. “I really appreciate the pizza,” she says as the cops hand over the box.
Grubhub responded to the incident in a statement to Fox News, saying, “We give a whole-hearted ‘thank you’ to the officers for going the extra mile to deliver this order to our customer. It’s a testament to the Tempe Police Department’s remarkable commitment to the community.”
“But we were troubled to hear about the incident leading up to the officers’ delivery, and suspended the driver account associated with the order.”
