Police in Maryland were bombarded with volunteers looking to sign up and get high as part of a training exercise to identify people who are impaired.

On October 14, The Ocean City Police Department made a post on social media seeking adults over the age of 21 who were willing to get high.

“We’re looking for 12–14 volunteers (21+) to smoke cannabis for educational purposes while officers learn to recognize cannabis impairment,” they said.

The event wouldn’t actually supply any weed to participants and was BYOC (bring your own cannabis), but lunch would be provided. Perfect for anyone craving the munchies after some bong hits.

Unfortunately for anyone already too blazed to apply, the police force was flooded with volunteers and had all the requests they could handle in record time.

Cops say an “overwhelming” amount of volunteers signed up to get high

According to the police, in just over four hours, they “received an overwhelming number of participant sign-ups.”

As such, they couldn’t take any additional volunteers, but thanked the public for their interest.

The force added that they would have around 40 student officers participating, and appreciated so many coming forward to help train the next generation of law enforcement.

With more states legalizing weed and the devil’s lettuce not being as demonized as it once was, more and more people have been joining the booming marijuana industry.
