Popeyes has released an AI-generated “wrap battle” diss track just days after McDonald’s brought back Snack Wraps.
The track, posted to Popeyes’ social channels on July 12, appears to take shots at McDonald’s with lines like “Food be tastin’ funny when a clown is in da kitchen” and “I don’t want no beef clowns got back to rapping.”
The AI voiceover is set to a hard-hitting beat and paired with visuals of Popeyes wraps in slow motion, highlighting their crispy texture and spicy sauce.
“To all the clowns in the kitchen, it’s time to put down the chicken,” they said in the tweet. “We just dropped the first-ever AI diss track music video and the Wrap Battle is on.”
Popeyes challenges McDonald’s to a “Wrap Battle”
Popeyes first introduced its chicken wrap lineup in June 2024, offering Classic, Spicy, and Blackened options. Each wrap features a hand-breaded chicken tender in a warm tortilla with lettuce and a choice of ranch or spicy sauce.
The wraps were launched as part of a broader effort to compete in the snack-size meal space, giving customers a more portable lunch option alongside Popeyes’ chicken sandwiches.
The campaign follows the July 10 launch of McDonald’s Snack Wraps, which saw overwhelming demand in some markets. Several locations sold out of the wraps on day one, with some stores reportedly running out before dinner.
