Porsche’s Resident Evil Requiem collaboration has taken a turn, after fans reacted to the reveal trailer by joking that Leon S. Kennedy would destroy the Cayenne Turbo GT before the game even ends. Now, Porsche has issued the perfect response.

Leon returns in Resident Evil Requiem with a custom Porsche Cayenne Turbo GT, with Nick Apostolides reprising his role. The trailer put Leon behind the wheel of the SUV, tying Porsche’s performance identity to one of gaming’s most recognizable survival horror characters.

But, after the Game Awards reveal, many of the comments on social media focused on Leon’s less-than-stellar history with vehicles.

Fans question Leon’s driving record

Under the official trailer and across social media, players shared doubts about whether the Cayenne would survive the game at all.

“That Porsche ain’t surviving the entire game” one fan wrote. “Leon definitely crashing that Porsche straight through the RPD building,” another joked.

“There’s no way that Porsche is getting through this game without being driven off of a cliff edge at 120 mph or destroyed in some highly intense way knowing Leon’s luck with vehicles.”

Porsche says “We trust Leon”

Rather than ignore the response, Porsche enlisted “Leon” in some much-needed high-performance driving lessons.

In a follow-up video, a Leon cosplayer, Lacy James, takes the Cayenne Turbo GT onto the track, where he is coached through drifting techniques and performance driving by Porsche racing legend Patrick Long.

Directly acknowledging the comments, and Leon’s reputation for driving shenanigans, by the end of the clip, he successfully drifts the Cayenne, closing on the message: “We trust Leon.”
