When you’re learning a language, sometimes you want a quick break from your regular lessons. Or maybe you want to work on your pronunciation, or train your ear, or review mistakes.
With the Practice tab, learners can target specific skills and pick their favorite lesson types on-demand.
And for the first time, we’ve made these practice sessions available to all learners, for free!
Here’s how it works.
Strengthen specific skills
The Practice tab offers a variety of options for practice.
Mistakes: Review previous mistakes, so they won’t trip you up next time.
Words: Study recommended words to bolster your vocabulary.
Speak: Get comfortable speaking the language.
Listen: Hone your ear so you can follow along when people speak the language.
Target skills in the Practice tab
Skill lessons in the Practice tab are available for all language courses on iOS and coming soon to Android.
How to get to the Practice tab:
- Tap the barbell icon in the bottom menu of the home screen.
- If you don’t see a barbell icon, tap the circle icon with three dots ••• which will open an extended menu where you can see the barbell icon.
Other content in the Practice tab:
- If Stories, Radio, or Adventures are available in your course, the Practice tab also offers an easy way to revisit this fun, immersive content!
- If you’re a Max subscriber, the Practice tab also lets you review Video Call and Roleplay sessions.
Improving learning for all
At Duolingo, we’re continually exploring ways to make learning more effective and more fun, for all learners.
Recently we were able to make Explain My Answer, an in-lesson feedback feature, free for all Duolingo learners. With the Practice tab, we’re excited to offer even more learning options for free to everyone.
It’s another step closer to achieving our mission: to develop the best education in the world and make it universally available. 💚
