Football fans in Singapore are set to get a dedicated streaming service for Premier League matches in the 2026/27 season, and it could come to the UK soon after.
If you live in the UK, watching the beautiful game can be pretty tricky. You need a Sky Sports subscription, and having extra packages like TNT Sports and Amazon Prime don’t hurt if you want to catch as many games as possible.
But, this could all change very soon, as the Premier League has struck a groundbreaking deal to launch its own broadcast service that might just make Sky Sports and the like redundant.
Premier League to get its own streaming service in Singapore
Dubbed Premflix (but officially known as Premier League +), the new service will launch in Singapore for the 2026/27 season in August, and will show all 380 matches across the campaign. They will also have exclusive video content from the top flight.
With no need for a broadcaster, the Premier League is cutting out the middleman and delivering the games direct to consumers. Not only will this be ideal for fans, but it’s also expected to significantly expand the league’s revenue stream.
Speaking on the landmark deal to launch Richard Masters, the Premier League’s chief executive, told The Times: “We have created a direct-to-consumer service from next season onwards and for the first time, the Premier League is going to have its own customers and deal with promotions, pricing, churn, distribution.
“We are looking to build a business, but also looking to learn how that might be replicated all around the world. This is a new app you can download and have on your smart TVs, your laptops, and watch 380 matches and loads of shoulder content, 24-7 channel service, and it’s going to be an exciting product.”
A six-year deal is now in place to get this up and running in Singapore via StarHub. And, as Masters says, if this goes to plan, other countries will be given the same treatment, which is a tantalising prospect for those in the UK who have been crying out for this for years.
Could this be the end for Sky Sports in the UK?
With the growing cost of sports packages in the UK, it’s no wonder fans are already dreaming about this service heading to the home of the Premier League.
At the moment, you could pay at least £20 per month to add Sky Sports to an existing Sky package, or up to around £34.99 to get access to the 12 channels alone. Throw in TNT Sports, which can cost £30.99 per month, and another £8.99 for Amazon Prime, and you’re looking at around £75 per month to watch a fraction of the matches in the Premier League.
The idea of having unprecedented access to every match on one single platform, at what would almost certainly be a massively reduced cost, is a no-brainer for supporters.
