Rematch devs have apologized after they failed to add crossplay at launch, an area that disappointed many players in the community.
Unlike other football games like EA SPORTS FC 25, Rematch allows players to control one player in fast-paced 5v5 matches. Player counts for the beta test peaked at 159,865 on Steam, proving to be a popular hit amongst football fans.
However, Rematch’s June 19 launch has been far from positive. Currently, the game sits at Mostly Positive on Steam, with one major point of contention being the lack of crossplay. Sloclap has revealed that “unforeseen technical complexities” stopped them from adding the feature and has provided an update for fans.
Rematch devs reveal crossplay is “highest priority”
“We understand many of you were looking forward to playing Rematch across platforms from day one. We did our utmost to include crossplay at launch, but Rematch is the studio’s first crossplay title, and we faced unforeseen technical complexities which prevented us from having this feature ready in time,” wrote the devs via an official post.
“We should have communicated as soon as it became apparent that crossplay wouldn’t be available at launch, and we’re sorry for the inconvenience and frustration it caused to some of our players. It’s very important for us that our players are able to enjoy Rematch with their friends, so along with bugfixes, crossplay is our absolute highest priority.”
Sloclap noted that they are aiming to deliver crossplay as quickly as possible and have a basic version working. However, the post mentions that it still requires a fair amount of polish before they can send it to the live version of the game.
As a result, the devs have yet to reveal when players can expect to see the highly requested feature added. “We’re committed to delivering this feature swiftly, and we’ll share a more precise deadline as soon as possible,” wrote the studio. “All this takes time but we are doing our best to move forward quickly.”
