Rematch is a PVP sports game that can only be played in multiplayer, so you’ll need to know the status of the servers and queue times before hopping into a match.

Following the success of Rocket League, Rematch is already making a splash among football fans and casuals alike. We sang its praises in our review, and plenty of players are moving over from EA SPORTS FC to see what all the fuss is about.

However, since arriving on June 19, there have been reports of server issues and long queue times, which might leave you wondering if the game is up and running. Here’s everything you need to know about Rematch’s current server status.

Are Rematch servers down?

The Rematch servers are up and running at the time of writing. They went offline briefly on launch day due to the “high influx of new players,” but the devs shared a message shortly after confirming that everything we back online.

So, you should have no issue connecting to a game right now. However, players have also been reporting that certain matches have been lagging and stuttering.

This could also be a side effect of the many new players hopping at once now that it’s finally out, and it’s likely to be solved in the coming days and weeks. However, if you’re running into the problem consistently, it’s worth checking your own connection.

Queue times

Another common complaint has been the lengthy queue times, especially when trying to find a Ranked match. Some have reported waiting as long as 11 minutes just to find one game.

It isn’t entirely clear what’s causing the issue, but there are a number of possibilities. It’s been speculated that there is a matchmaking issue, which is preventing players from joining a match even if there are more than enough to fill a lobby, but nothing has been officially confirmed by the devs.

When it comes to Ranked, the number of players actually searching will likely be lower than regular Quick Play. This is partly because the game has only just launched and fans are still learning the ropes, but also because you can’t access Ranked until you hit level 5. So, expect the queue times to improve as more players reach the entry requirement.

The main cause, though, is probably the lack of crossplay available at launch. Although there’s no shortage of players jumping into Rematch, you can only find a lobby with those on your platform, which spreads the player base more thinly than if you could mix and match.

While we don’t currently have the exact player count numbers across all platforms, this is no doubt contributing to the longer waits.

Luckily, the devs have confirmed that crossplay is their “highest priority,” as they look to ensure the long-term success of the game.
