Former Resident Evil director Hideki Kamiya has hit out at Resident Evil Requiem leakers after spoilers began spreading online, saying those responsible “deserve ten thousand deaths.”
Kamiya’s comments come as Capcom moves to crack down on pre-release footage and story details circulating ahead of launch, with leaks about the game’s story and ending surfacing online.
On February 20, Capcom addressed the situation by urging fans not to amplify the leaks. “Please don’t post or share pre-release leaks and spoilers for Resident Evil Requiem,” reads the statement.
They then mentioned that their “legal department will continue to issue takedowns and deletion notices for leaks in order to preserve your day-one experience.” A day later, Hideki Kamiya responded to leakers in a strongly worded post on X that has since gone viral.
Kamiya slams Resident Evil Requiem leakers
“For your own selfish satisfaction, you trample on the feelings of the users who are looking forward to it, and the feelings of the creators who gave it their all to make it,” said Kamiya.
“It’s a despicable act that destroys everyone’s happiness, and it deserves ten thousand deaths… Be cursed so that you can never play games again…”
Kamiya directed the original Resident Evil 2 and later created Devil May Cry and Bayonetta, making him one of the series’ most recognizable creative voices. The legendary developer is often known for his vocal Tweets, where he regularly blocks and roasts people who try to come after him.
Kamiya also referenced a similar incident during the release of Resident Evil 2, saying the late-game developments were previously “scooped by a photo weekly magazine.”
Resident Evil Requiem launches on February 27, on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PC, Nintendo Switch 2.
