Invincible VS’s roster is getting an explosive update as its next playable fighter, Rex Splode, bursts onto the scene. Here’s everything we know so far.
Invincible VS was officially announced in June 2025, with a public roster of seven characters from the award-winning comic-turned-animated series: Mark Grayson (Invincible), Atom Eve, Bulletproof, Omni-Man, Lucen, Rex Splode and Thula.
Initially, only four of those had been shown off in gameplay trailers — but now, Rex Splode’s bombastic moveset has finally been revealed.
Rex Splode joins Invincible VS
As shown in a video from Quarter Up on July 14, Rex Splode is the next fighter joining Invincible VS’s roster. In the comics, Rex has the ability to make anything he touches explode, including both inorganic items and organic materials (like bad guys, for instance).
In Invincible VS, this means that Rex Splode can fire off explosive projectiles to keep enemies at a distance, giving him openings for big-damage combos and mixups.
That’s not all; players can also delay Rex’s explosives to set traps for their opponents, or detonate them instantly as combo extenders or pressure tools.
As in the comics, Rex is a highly mobile character in Invincible VS with the ability to keep other characters at bay — meaning that, essentially, he’s a zoner. Rex could be a good addition to a team to keep things balanced between rushdown fighters like Mark and Bulletproof, for example.
Invincible VS is a 3-vs-3 tag fighting game, so you’ll have to be competent playing more than one character. For players who like to control their matches, Rex Splode might be the perfect fighter for you.
As of yet, the full roster of characters coming to Invincible VS is unknown; in our interview with the development team, even they weren’t certain who’s going to make the cut! Given the sheer wealth of material the game has to pull from, it’s anyone’s guess who’s coming next.
Invincible VS is set to launch in 2026 on Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and PC.
