New Riot job listings and leaked screenshots indicate a new Valorant game is in development.
Valorant, just like League of Legends before it, has been a major hit for Riot as the studio entered the realm of hero shooters. Unlike other games in the genre, like Overwatch, Valorant is a tactical FPS, similar to Counter-Strike while still featuring unique character abilities.
Although the game has been going strong since its release in 2020, Riot appears to be working on a new title set in the Valorant universe, capitalizing on the tactical first-person shooter’s success.
According to The Game Post, recent job listings and leaked images have surfaced, and Riot has tried to cover its tracks since their discovery.
Leaks claim Riot is working on a new Valorant game
As per the report, new listings appeared on Riot’s official careers page for an Associate Art Director, 3D Character Art for an “unpublished R&D product.”
Of note, the listing is claimed to have requested a candidate who has: “Experience creating characters for the FPS genre. Experience working on a highly recognizable stylized game. Experience working with modern game engines such as Unity, Unreal, or proprietary technologies. Familiarity with the Valorant IP.”
Additionally, the job posting says the suitable candidate will “develop the character art style and aesthetic” and “create exemplary stylized assets across humans, creatures, props, and clothing.” This suggests that new characters will be created for this game, separate from the ones already found in the main Valorant title.
The listing has reportedly since been modified to remove the mentions of Valorant and FPS.
If that wasn’t enough, screenshots have also since emerged of “Project T,” an MMOFPS. The leak was posted X account SargeOP, who credited ‘PlayerIGN’ – a username included in the image.
The blurry screenshot, appears to be from an early build of the game with a character in a red and blue dress holding a “tricked out AR.” The character’s face had also been edited, keeping their identity unknown.
The UI also shows weapon icons along with health and armor. According to Sarge, Project T will feature “seasons” and “personal quarters progression.”
