A Rockstar Games insider is calling out “BS” rumors about GTA 6 being delayed further to 2027 or beyond amid controversy at the studio.
Grand Theft Auto VI is set to finally release on November 19, 2026 after suffering a couple of delays.
Reports indicate that while the game is “complete,” Rockstar is ensuring that it launches in a bug-free state and without the immense glitches that plagued other titles such as Cyberpunk 2077.
Amid the delay, Rockstar was accused of “union busting,” leading to some significant firings and protests outside the studio’s offices.
One dev, who was not fired, revealed that staff members at Rockstar were concerned that GTA 6 could endure yet another delay in the aftermath.
“They are not easily replaced and will certainly affect us in making our project deadlines,” they said. “These are very senior artists, animators, QA testers, designers, programmers and producers. Including Leads.”
Not only that, but viral rumors have surfaced, claiming that GTA 6 could further slip all the way to 2027, but one insider close to Rockstar has put those allegations on ice.
GTA 6 2027 delay rumors quashed by Rockstar insider
In a post on X, Reece ‘Kiwi Talkz’ Reilly, an insider who correctly warned of GTA 6 being pushed from its planned May 2026, hit out at claims the title will be delayed to 2027 or even later.
“This is total BS, I can confirm that GTA 6 is still too far out to determine if another delay is needed yet,” he slammed.
According to Reilly, the tensions around GTA have reached a point where everyone just needs to relax and not focus on every rumor.
“These people are just stirring the pot for engagement. If I hear rumblings of another delay I will let you know, but for now stop believing this crap. Relax GTA fans.”
Strauss Zelnick, Chairman and CEO of Take-Two Interactive says he’s “highly confident” that there won’t be further delays and VI will finally release in November.
The 2027 rumor comes as multiple fake gameplay “leaks” have surfaced, only to be debunked as AI. Despite this, the faux videos have pulled in millions of views across social media.
As for GTA 6, Rockstar’s quest for perfection and to push the boundaries of what video games are capable of is likely why the game has taken so long.
Previously, Reilly claimed that Rockstar is doing things with GTA 6 that no other developer will match in over 20 years.
In 2022, Zelnick proclaimed that GTA 6 will “set creative benchmarks for the series, industry and entertainment.”
