The ROG Xbox Ally, Microsoft’s answer to the ever-expanding list of handheld consoles, is on its way after being announced back in June during the Xbox Showcase. We already know its specs, and after a leak by ASUS, we may know the price.
Once we learned about the specs of the ROG Xbox Ally and the ROG Xbox Ally X, the next key piece of information fans were looking for was the price. After all, if you’re looking to buy it, you need to know how much to save, or how much it’s going to set you back.
Up until now, there’s been nothing but speculation. Some have based it on the price of the Switch 2, others on the current cost of an ROG Ally handheld. However, in a leak shared by 3djuegos, we may have our first glimpse at how much this will cost.
Xbox handheld’s leaked prices are higher than Steam Deck & Switch 2
According to 3djuegos, and shared using a preview of the ASUS website, it seems the ROG Xbox Ally will cost €599 ($700 / £520). The ROG Xbox Ally X will go on sale for €899 ($1,050 / £780).
Of course, this is purely discovered on a preview of the ASUS website and is subject to change, especially given that the full price hasn’t officially been released yet.
While the price is yet to be confirmed, we do know the handheld will come with at least a 512GB M.2 SSD for the cheaper option, and a 1TB M.2 SSD for the X. On top of that, both will have a 7” FHD (1080p) screen and an 80Wh battery for the ROG Xbox Ally, and a 60Wh battery for the X.
In comparison, the most expensive Steam Deck, which has an OLED screen, 1TB of storage, and a 45Wh battery comes in at $649.00 (£569.00) while the newly released Nintendo Switch 2 will set you back $449.99 (£395.00) and comes with a 1080p screen with the ability to play up to 4k resolution.
Whether this is the actual price of the handheld is yet to be revealed, but if it is, it’ll come in at the top end of handheld prices as well as boasting higher specs.
