Tech creator Daniel, known online as ZONEofTECH, says his Samsung Galaxy Ring’s battery swelled while he was wearing it, leaving him unable to remove the device.

In a post on X on September 29, Daniel explained that the issue began as he was preparing to board a flight. “My Samsung Galaxy Ring’s battery started swelling. While it’s on my finger. And while I’m about to board a flight,” he wrote, adding that the ring hurt and could not be taken off.

Photos attached to his post showed the Galaxy Ring still on his finger. The post had reached more than 14 million views by the same day.

YouTuber’s smart ring removed after trip to hospital

In a later update, Daniel said he was denied boarding his flight because of the incident and had to book a hotel after traveling for nearly 47 hours. He was then taken to the hospital as an emergency case where doctors removed the ring.

Images shared in his follow-up showed the inside of the Galaxy Ring with a swollen battery. Daniel wrote that he would not be wearing a smart ring again.

Samsung responds

After Daniel finally got home, he updated fans on X and revealed that Samsung reached out to him.

According to the YouTuber, the company paid for his hotel stay, booked him a car to get him, and collected the ring for further investigation. His finger is doing well, also, aside from some marks caused by the sudden swelling.
