Roblox has issued its first public comment since YouTuber Schlep released a viral video accusing the platform of ignoring widespread safety issues, but the creator says the company’s response “didn’t address a single thing” he raised.
In a statement shared with Indy100, a Roblox spokesperson said the company is “deeply committed to maintaining a safe experience for all users” and that its “policies are purposefully stricter than those found on many other platforms.” The company cited more than 145 new safety measures added this year and upcoming age-estimation technology designed to prevent adults from chatting with minors.
“We have a strong record of working with law enforcement and continue to invest in advanced safety systems to set the gold standard in online safety,” Roblox told Indy100.
Schlep calls the response a deflection
Shortly after the statement went public, Schlep posted on X, saying Roblox “didn’t address a single thing I talked about,” adding that he had shown examples of “sex games rated 5+, Tinder-style games,” and evidence from law enforcement claiming Roblox had ignored their advice.
“You have 764 arrested predators on the site right now,” Schlep wrote. “Absolute joke, give us a real honest statement.”
Schlep’s comments come just days after he released a 36-minute video revealing that Roblox had contacted him directly months after banning his accounts and sending a cease-and-desist. In that video, he accused the company of reaching out only after public pressure and ongoing lawsuits from multiple states over child-safety concerns.
Journalist Jake Brigstock, who submitted Schlep’s full video to Roblox for comment, confirmed that the statement shared with Indy100 was the company’s entire response. Roblox has not yet publicly addressed Schlep’s specific allegations or his claims about the number of predators allegedly operating on the platform.
