Big news for Scream fans, as Scream 7 is releasing a day earlier than expected, and in a format never before seen in the franchise.

February 2026 is a big month for horror, with January releases Send Help and Iron Lung still riding high atop the box office charts, and Whistle and The Strangers Chapter 3 landing in cinemas.

Scream 7 isa also finally arriving, and anticipation couldn’t be higher for a film that sees original Scream writer Kevin Williamson directing, and OG stars Neve Campbell and Matthew Lillard returning.

Thanks to a new Scream announcement that accompanied the debut of the film’s Super Bowl ad, we also now know that the scary sequel is arriving a day early, and on some very big screens…

Scream 7 screening in IMAX and releasing a day early

Scream 7 is releasing in regular theaters on February 27, 2026, but the movie is also releasing in premium and large formats for the very first time, including IMAX, Dolby Cinema, and 4DX.

Horror hounds will also be able to see the movie a day early, on February 26, 2026, at opening night fan events in select theatres.

Attendees will also receive an exclusive throwback print – pictured above – which feature Neve Campbell, and pays homage to the original Scream artwork.

Tickets for both the special event, and regular screenings, go on sale on February 9, while the film’s official synopsis is as follows:

When a new Ghostface killer emerges in the quiet town where Sidney Prescott (Neve Campbell) has built a new life, her darkest fears are realized as her daughter (Isabel May) becomes the next target. Determined to protect her family, Sidney must face the horrors of her past to put an end to the bloodshed once and for all.
