Silent Hill f’s lead actor has opened up about the emotional toll of bringing Hinako Shimizu to life, revealing she “lost track” of who she was during recording.

Japanese actor Konatsu Kato, who plays the tormented high schooler, recalled how the deeper she went into the role, the harder it became to separate herself from the character.

In a newly machine-translated interview with Famitsu, Kato recalled how emotionally demanding the role became as the story evolved.

“As the recording progressed, the story branched out more and more,” she explained. “As we recorded various developments, I found myself thinking, ‘It was the same scene just now, but the words and emotions are different… Huh… Where am I, what am I doing now, Hinako?’”

Kato went on to describe how the increasingly blurred line between herself and her character began to take its toll. “I was Hinako, but the other person was also Hinako, and I got confused and lost track of who I was, both in character and in reality,” she said.

“There were times when I would burst into tears without even thinking about anything. As the time I spent facing her increased, my confusion also increased, and I remember there were days when I felt like I was going crazy.”

This isn’t the first time Kato has discussed the intense process behind bringing Hinako to life. Back in June, she said she could feel her “sanity slipping” during production, but mentioned the challenging role was worth contributing towards.
