Silent Hill f has sold more than one million copies worldwide in under a week, marking one of the strongest launches in the survival horror series’ history.
Released on September 25, Silent Hill f shifts the series from its usual American backdrops to 1960s Japan, following Hinako Shimizu’s descent into the fog-covered town of Ebisugaoka. The change of setting and focus on Japanese folklore has struck a chord with fans, with Konami now confirming the game is outpacing the Silent Hill 2 remake across every major region.
“The remake of ‘SILENT HILL 2,’ released last year, surpassed one million units shipped worldwide within a week of its release, but ‘SILENT HILL f’ is growing in shipments at an even faster pace in each region, including Japan,” Konami said in its press release.
NeoBards Studio Creative Director Al Yang also celebrated the milestone on social media, writing: “Silent Jill f has reached 1 million units as of 9/26! Thank you so much to everyone for your support!”
The Silent Hill 2 remake reached its first million sales in less than a week following its October 2024 launch, setting a benchmark for the series after years of inactivity. However, Silent Hill f’s even faster pace underscores how much anticipation there was for a brand-new story and setting.
Reviews have also fueled its momentum, where the game currently holds an impressive 86 Metascore on Metacritic, earning praise for its atmosphere, narrative, and visuals.
The success signals a major revival for the survival horror series after more than a decade without a new mainline installment. With other projects like Silent Hill Townfall still in development, Konami’s fog-shrouded return looks set to continue.
