Hinako’s father, Kanta Shimizu, is portrayed by Takeshi Masago, while her mother, Kimie Shimizu, is played by Tamami Hiraoka. Both are experienced screen actors, but far from seasoned gamers, which has quickly become part of the appeal.
According to the official YouTube description, it’s been decades since Hinako’s father last touched a video game, while this marks her mother’s very first time playing on PS5. Both actors have asked viewers to watch their playthroughs with “warm eyes” as they learn the controls live.
The parents’ streams build on earlier buzz around Konatsu Kato, who has been streaming Silent Hill f on her official YouTube channel, revisiting the nightmare she helped bring to life. Since starting her playthrough on October 24, Kato’s broadcasts have regularly pulled in thousands of viewers and taken off across social media, with fans cheering her on as she pushes through the fog-filled town of Ebisugaoka.
