Silent Hill f’s lead actress has once again spoken about the intense emotional toll of playing Hinako, revealing that one scene became the hardest moment of her life.

Konatsu Kato has been vocal about how challenging the role has been, previously stating that she broke down in tears while recording scenes and felt her sanity slipping during the performance

However, Konami’s official Silent Hill f combat and character design video has now shed further light onto the makings of the critically acclaimed survival horror game, while also detailing the emotional toll it took on its 26-year-old actress.

During the video, Kato revealed she was not allowed to alter a single line of dialogue, which was a challenge for her process. “I wasn’t allowed to mess up even a single word of the script,” she explained. “In my usual acting work, I often rephrase things to make them easier for me to say, so this was a real struggle.”

Recording Silent Hill f’s branching story and multiple emotional endings amplified the pressure. “Every ending made my heart swell,” she said. “I don’t think I’ll ever have that chance again in my acting career. It was such a rare and valuable experience.”

However, one moment in particular pushed her past her breaking point. When filming a scene where two versions of Hinako appear, Kato said she lost her sense of reality.

Topic begins at 08:01

“That scene was the hardest part of the shoot. And honestly, the hardest moment in my entire life,” she shared. “I didn’t know who I was anymore, where I was, what I was doing. I completely lost my sense of self. Tears just started falling on their own, and I couldn’t go on with the shoot for a moment.”

Despite the emotional toll, Kato said seeing herself as Hinako for the first time brought everything flooding back.

“It was painful, but I also truly felt how lucky I was to be part of such a wonderful project,” she said. She also reflected on the legacy of the performance. “Even after I’m gone from this world, someone out there might still be playing as me. That’s such a strange, surreal feeling.”
