Masahiro Sakurai, the legendary creator behind Super Smash Bros. and Kirby, is set to star in his own manga biography later this year.
As reported by Famitsu, the 160-page book was supervised by Sakurai himself and follows his journey from his first encounters with games as a child to the creation of Kirby of the Stars and Super Smash Bros., revealing previously unknown stories about his creative process and career milestones.
The manga, titled Learn About People and Work Through Manga: Masahiro Sakurai – Making the World More Fun with Games (machine translated), will be published by EastPress on November 18, 2025. It costs 1,430 yen, about $9 USD, and is available to pre-order from Amazon Japan and Rakuten Books.
Smash Bros. creator gets own manga
It’s divided into six chapters covering key moments in his life and work, from the birth of Kirby and the origins of Smash Bros. to the founding of his studio, Sora Ltd., and his ongoing influence on modern game development.
The book also includes industry columns and a full Sakurai career timeline.
