Sonic is ditching the Green Hill Zone for a dimly lit detective agency. That’s right, he’s cracking down on a different kind of egg… man.
Sonic has done it all. From racing at the Olympics to sprinting up the box office charts with multiple big-screen blockbusters, he’s been speedrunning to success in all manner of media.
Though one area yet to be conquered is podcasting. What exactly could a Sonic podcast even look like, you ask? Well, a noir-slanted crime thriller, of course. What else?
Sonic is set to head up the Chaotix Detective Agency as part of a new audio series, and it sounds just as incredible as you’re thinking.
Sonic set to play hard-boiled detective in new podcast series
‘Sonic the Hedgehog Presents: The Chaotix Casefiles’ is the name of a new podcast series set to premiere on January 27, 2026. It’s set to debut across a raft of platforms, including Spotify, Apple Podcasts, and more.
If you’re unfamiliar with the space, this isn’t a typical podcast. It’s not just a few characters from Sonic blabbering on, but rather, a scripted narrative. Each week, new layers of the mystery will be unraveled, new characters may be introduced, all to keep your headphones glued on.
Of course, the tone here takes after the typical noir-style crime thriller, poking fun at its expense with the show’s “not-so-dark, not-so-stormy” setting.
Bringing it all to life, many iconic voice actors from the games will be reprising their roles in this audio-only experience. Roger Craig Smith return as Sonic, Matthew Mercer plays Espio again, and a handful of others will sound familiar to longtime fame.
Characters like Vector the Crocodile, Espio the Chameleon, and Charmy the Bee will be recurring, but Sega has already teased “other fan-favorites” will make cameos throughout, too.
Doctor Eggman couldn’t be behind it all, could he?
