Spotify is raising the price of a subscription for select users, with analysts predicting that they won’t be stopping anytime soon.
The cost of a premium subscription on Spotify has risen a few times in the last few years. And, with the end of 2025 in sight, the cost of subscribing to the music streaming platform is going up again – at least in the United Kingdom.
On October 24, Sky News’ Money Blog revealed that a number of subscribers have received emails, informing them of an impending price rise of £1. “Starting on your billing date in November, your subscription price will change from £11.99/month to £12.99/month,” the email reads.
Spotify states that the price rise is coming so that “we can invest in our product, develop new features, and continue to bring you the best experience.” This price appears to be for solo subscribers only, with duo prices remaining the same – at least for now.
Spotify price in USA predicted for 2026
The UK price rise does follow Spotify raising prices in other countries too. As of now, the United States has been unaffected, but analysts are predicting that will change.
Back on October 14, analysts at J.P. Morgan stated that they expect a price increase in the United States will come “by year-end or early 2026.” This timeline was also mentioned back in August by Guggenheim, but no exact price has been predicted.
Spotify previously raised prices in the US back in 2023 and 2024, which were the first price changes since 2011. They also tweaked the family price in the United States as well.
Spotify has been altering features for non-premium users recently, too, allowing them to finally search for a specific song and play it whenever they want.
The music streaming platform has been under fire in recent weeks for a rise in supposed AI content. New music from artists who have passed away has been added to official channels, concerning some users.
