Star Wars Battlefront II’s Steam player count reached all-new heights once again after it went on sale on Valve’s platform.

The grand-scale multiplayer shooter, originally released on PC in 2017 via EA’s defunct Origin platform, was ported to Steam in 2020, where it had only managed to hit five-digit concurrent players once, in January 2021.

Fast-forward to 2025, and DICE’s sequel, set in a galaxy far, far away, has experienced a gigantic renaissance that, at least as of writing, shows no signs of tapering off.

Back in May, following the conclusion of Disney’s Andor Season 2, fans of the franchise flocked to Battlefront II, causing a more than 600% increase in players. The influx was so unexpected that players reported experiencing server issues.

Almost exactly a month later, those already impressive numbers have jumped up yet again.

Star Wars Battlefront II sale triggers giant player surge

As part of its annual Summer Sale, Steam has slashed the price of Battlefront II by 90%, reducing the entry price to $3.99 for a limited time.

Per Steam Charts, the sale period has contributed to a new all-time concurrent player peak of 35,321, placing it comfortably in Steam’s top 100 most-played games.

As of writing, the eight-year-old title currently has more players than Bungie’s Destiny 2, a live service game released in the same year. Likewise, its 24-hour peak surpassed new releases such as Clair Obscur: Expedition 33.

The question that now remains, of course, is whether Battlefront II can retain its comeback. The game’s sale period ends on June 26, so if you’re looking to join the fun, now’s the time to do so.
