An aerospace startup called Inversion has announced Arc, a spacecraft designed to deliver cargo anywhere on Earth in under an hour. The company describes it as the first space-based delivery vehicle, with potential applications ranging from defense to commercial logistics.

Arc is built to rapidly transport mission-critical cargo to areas with limited infrastructure or difficult terrain. The spacecraft features a versatile payload bay and can be deployed in constellations tailored to customer needs. Once called down, it autonomously reenters Earth’s atmosphere, deploys parachutes, and touches down at its destination.

First flight set for 2026

According to Inversion, the Arc program is targeting its first flight in 2026. The company has already built a full-scale structural unit, run simulations, performed precision drop tests, and partnered with NASA on thermal protection systems designed for extreme reentry conditions.

To ensure accuracy, Arc uses an actively-controlled parachute system capable of steering and maneuvering during descent. It operates on Inversion’s in-house flight computer, which combines AI, navigation, control algorithms, and computer vision to land within feet of its target.

While defense and national security are among the immediate focus areas, Inversion says its long-term vision expands further. The company aims to build a global logistics layer in space that could serve both governments and commercial markets, connecting communities and economies with faster delivery options.
