With the Stranger Things finale about to drop, Season 5 has already broken multiple records, both at Netflix and on Broadway.

Stranger Things launched nearly 10 years ago, and soon achieved Vecna’s goal of pretty much taking over the world.

The series has grown – in size, scale, and success – exponentially over five seasons, in the process turning its actors into superstars, and launching a media and merchandising empire.

The finale isn’t just dropping on Netflix today, its also screening in cinemas, with over 1 million tickets already sold. While Volumes 1 and 2 of Season 5 have also been setting records on the streamer, alongside Seasons 1-4.

Stranger Things inspired Netflix’s most-watched Christmas Day

Volume 2 of Stranger Things 5 dropped over the festive period, and rocketed the series to the top of the Netflix charts, through a whopping 34.5 million views.

That made December 25, 2025 the most-watched Christmas Day in the history of the streamer, while it also had a knock-on effect for past seasons, with 1-4 appearing in the Top 10 for a record-breaking fifth week.

Season 1 hit No. 5 with 4.8 million views, Season 4 appeared at No. 6 with 4.1 million views, Season 3 could be found at No. 8 with 3.6 million views, and Season 2 reared its head at No. 9, also with 3.6 million views.

Ticket sales surge for Stranger Things: The First Shadow

The Broadway production of Stranger Things: The First Shadow – which fills in blanks concerning Henry Creel’s past – also saw unprecedented demand for tickets over the holiday period.

The Tony Award-wining production broke the nine-performance house record at the Marquis Theatre in New York with a gross of more than $2.5 million.

On top of that, ticket sales for both the Broadway and West End productions hit their highest levels since the two productions launched.
