Mr Clarke actor Randy Havens has apologised to all the Stranger Things “conspiracy theorists” out there, while stating that there’s no additional episode out there.
A fan theory has persisted over the last week that Stranger Things wasn’t over with Episode 8 – titled ‘The Rightside Up‘ – and that the final few scenes were an illusion created by villain Vecna.
‘Conformity Gate‘ claimed a secret final episode of the series would drop on January 7, 2026, but that day came and went with no additional instalment.
And on that very date, one of the stars of Stranger Things took to Threads to state that the series is over, once-and-for-all.
Mr Clarke actor says Episode 8 was “truly the end” of Stranger Things
Randy Havens played Mr. Clarke in Stranger Things, the science teacher who listened to his young students across multiple seasons, took the time to support and develop them, and provided invaluable assistance as the final battle with Vecna approached.
On the day that the ‘Conformity Gate’ episode was supposed to drop, the actor posted a message on Threads thanking artist Matt Taylor for the Mr. Clarke drawing which appears in the closing credits. While he also takes the opportunity to debunk the fan theory.
“What an amazing moment seeing MY FACE in the closing credits of the Stranger Things finale on the big screen!” writes Havens. “I truly had no idea that they were gonna give Mr. Clarke one final shout-out. Thank you @matttaylordraws for your absolutely amazing work on the closing credits DnD manual!”
He then adds: “Yes it’s the actual finale I’m sorry to all the conspiracy theorists but that’s actually and truly the end of Stranger Things.”
He wasn’t the only one debunking this week, either. Vecna actor Jamie Campbell Bower tried to dampen the debate by telling Jimmy Fallon on the Tonight Show that Episode 8 was “the ending the show deserves.”
