Nintendo has confirmed the Switch 2 has sold more than 10.36 million units worldwide as of September 30, 2025, reaching the milestone in under four months.
The figure comes directly from Nintendo’s latest investor report, where the company stated the system had “surpassed 10 million cumulative units sold” through the end of September.
Nintendo had already confirmed 3.5 million sales in the first four days following its June 2025 launch, with demand remaining high across major markets.
While the company has yet to share a full regional breakdown, Famitsu reported that the Nintendo Switch 2 sold much faster than Switch 1 in Japan, with retailers struggling to meet demand.
Switch 2 sales outpace original Switch
While Nintendo has not released a precise three-month sales total for either console, the original Switch sold around 4.7 million units across its first four months, while the Switch 2 has already surpassed 10.36 million in just under four months. That puts Nintendo’s new hardware at more than double the early pace of its predecessor.
A November 4 post from Reuters also detailed that Nintendo has now raised its full-year hardware forecast to 19 million units, thanks to the huge success of the Switch 2.
Major first-party titles like Mario Kart World and Pokemon Legends Z-A are also helping drive console sales, with the latter selling a whopping 5.8M in its first week.
Beating the original Switch’s 139 million global sales won’t be easy, but with Nintendo’s new console outpacing its early sales in less than half the time, Nintendo appears set for another strong hardware cycle as it moves into 2026.
