The latest game drop* for Minecraft is here – The Copper Age – giving players new ways to experiment with the versatile metal. Copper has a warm orange colour at first, and over time it oxidises into a beautiful green colour.

Meet the copper golem!
One of the most exciting features of The Copper Age is a brand new player-built mob, the copper golem! When a player wants to summon one of these friendly helpers, all they need to do is place a jack’o lantern on top of a copper block. This isn’t the first golem in the game, and players are invited to introduce the copper golem to the iron golem for a sweet surprise!
Copper golems love to organise items, and just like copper blocks they will oxidise over time. When it does, your copper golem will eventually turn into a statue that can strike four different poses! They are just as happy being a statue as they are walking around, so it’s up to the player to decide which version fits their play style.
The statues aren’t just decorative, they’re functional too! They work with redstone, and each pose emits a unique signal when players connect them to a redstone comparator.
It’s easy to bring a copper golem back to life – just use an axe to scrape off the patina or cover the copper golem in wax to keep it from oxidising!
Decorate with copper items
There are also plenty of decorative copper items to brighten up a player’s base, including copper lanterns, copper torches, copper chains, and copper bars. They will also oxidise unless covered in wax, giving the player even more decorative options. And not to be left out, lightning rods will now also oxidise over time! While players are busy decorating, they’ll discover that the dye art icons have a new look. The different shapes aren’t just pretty, it makes them easier to identify in the inventory.
With all the new ways to craft with copper, players will be able to show off their treasures, rediscover redstone, and clean up a cluttered base with the help of a new clonking companion. They can show off the time they spent on their base by letting the copper oxidise or freeze time with wax. Welcome to The Copper Age!
