Our love for nostalgia knows no bounds. From live-action anime adaptations and countless superhero movies to revived comedy classics (Happy Gilmore 2 and The Naked Gun have landed in the past month alone), revivals are everywhere and they’re not going away anytime soon.
When they’re done right, it’s fun to embrace them, and this is ringing true for King of the Hill. Created by Mike Judge and Greg Daniels, the animated sitcom follows propane salesman Hank Hill and his oddball family and neighbors in Arlen, Texas.
It’s the kind of show where nothing really happens, and that’s exactly the point. Its original run from 1997 to 2010 was a success, and now it’s back with Season 14, picking up where the show left off as the Hill family and friends come to terms with a very different world.

King of the Hill Season 14 is available to stream on Hulu now, where new and eligible returning subscribers can sign up for a free trial. The good news is that all 10 episodes dropped at once, meaning you don’t have to start paying once the trial runs out.

The Hulu series has received impeccable reviews, earning a respective 100% and 92% from critics and audiences on Rotten Tomatoes.
King of the Hill’s latest chapter has been praised for packing each episode with the show’s trademark humor and OG characters while giving it a modern spin that doesn’t feel out of place.
Many of the original voice cast and crew are back, including co-creators Greg Daniels and Mike Judge, who voices Hank Hill and Boomhauer.
Other returning voice cast members include: Kathy Najimy as Peggy Hill, Stephen Root as Bill Dauterive, Pamela Adlon as Bobby Hill, Johnny Hardwick as Dale Gribble, and Lauren Tom as both Connie and Minh Souphanousinphone.
Sadly, Johnny Hardwick – who played Dale Gribble – passed away during production in 2023, so Toby Huss took over his role. Jonathan Joss, who voiced John Redcorn, also died, but his recorded lines are used in the revival.
As for what the critics are saying, The Telegraph wrote, “After a lumpy start, the show – and the Hills – soon slots nicely into the groove, with the timeline bringing fresh perspective on familiar characters.”
GamesRadar said, “King of the Hill is back. And though it takes some time to settle in to its evolved setting and its new twists on old relationships, by the end of Season 14, it’s easy to feel right at home in the new Arlen, Texas.”
Slant stated, “The series is still comically dry and capable of shifting into moments of low-key profundity… 14 seasons in, King of the Hill hasn’t reinvented itself so much as it’s settled deeper into its own skin.”
