Where Winds Meet isn’t out for everyone around the world yet, but players have already found the game’s true menace, and it isn’t a boss – it’s actually just geese.
The upcoming free-to-play open-world RPG from Everstone Studio lets players explore ancient China during the chaotic Five Dynasties and Ten Kingdoms period.
But while players may be expecting adrenaline-fueled fights with warriors and mythical beasts, viral clips show that the real danger is none other than a humble goose.
Where Winds Meet geese are the real bosses
In one clip, the player can be seen casually taking a swing at a lone goose and instantly regrets it. The bird launches a furious counterattack, flapping and honking with lightning speed as a health bar appears on screen.
Even more terrifying is the fact that the player’s attacks don’t seem to be doing much damage, while the feathered fiend’s own deadly hits deal enough damage to have you questioning what just happened.
This comical fight has a similar feel to The Legend of Zelda’s Cuccos, the famously vengeful chickens that attack anyone who dares to hit them. Only this time, it’s a full-on fight against a kung fu goose who has no qualms about killing you.
Another clip shows a similar fate for another player, who quickly falls to the power of the mighty goose.
Where Winds Meet releases on November 14, 2025, for PC, mobile, and PlayStation 5, and already has more than 10 million pre-registrations. Judging by early footage, though, anyone planning to play might want to avoid picking fights with the local wildlife, especially if it honks.
