The Housekeeping Olympics is a real event, and the Las Vegas-based competition is going viral for some of its more unique challenges, like the sheet-tucking relay and the mopping obstacle course.
Competitiveness is next to cleanliness. Or at least, that’s what a group of hard-working housekeepers in Las Vegas believe as they gather each year to showcase their skills.
The Housekeeping Olympics is indeed a real thing, with nine teams of hotel staff battling it out at the Michelob Ultra Arena this past week in Las Vegas.
Footage from the competition has been gaining traction online as millions look on in awe. Think you know how to make a bed in record time? Think again, these world leaders have you beat and they’ve got the gold medals to prove it.
The Housekeeping Olympics goes viral
The 2025 Housekeeping Olympics is just the latest in an annual series of competitions with a clear goal in mind. The aim is to “spotlight and celebrate frontline heroes of hospitality, healthcare, and beyond.”
This year, nine teams competed in the arena, testing their skills in a series of competitions ranging from a mopping obstacle course to a vacuuming skill test.
“They are the lifeline… they bring the guest experience to life every single day. So it’s a great opportunity to take a step back and recognize the employees for all the work that they do,” said Andy Meese, General Manager of Park MGM.
Obviously not something you see everyday, the competition has been blowing up across social media, with millions of views across social media. Most have been quick to share their appreciation for the hard workers, stating “The art of making a bed is so underrated.”
Meanwhile, others have joked that we have skills like this in top hotels yet “we still can’t even check in till 3/4PM.”
