The Kingdom of Serenity: Landscaping, a New Human Resident & Perfect Town Status Reached!

You might recall in one of my previous blog posts that I had made a town flag for Serenity but I wasn’t super impressed with how it looked during the dark hours as the highlights of the moon and the yellow hues made the moon looked kinda off. I ultimately decided that I wasn’t happy with having that flag be the final version of Serenity’s town flag so I decided to rework the town flag.

Here’s a reminder of what the original town flag looked like, it has a crescent moon with stars and a dark gradient background. The colours don’t look good for this time of day. The flag does look good in the bright hours of the day though but this isn’t ideal for Serenity— a town set in eternal darkness.

And here’s the reworked version! 🙂 I feel like the new full moon and brighter colours compliments everything perfectly. It looks so much better at night compared to the previous town flag.

And a side by side comparison. I’m super happy I decided to rework it in the end. 🙂

Here’s both versions in the daylight so you can see them both better.

If you’re interested in any of the town flags you can download them via my AC:NL QR code page here. 🙂

I also wanted to create some designs for Serenity’s beach. My plan was to do something similar to this pin here on Pinterest by having a crescent moon drawn on the sand.

The bottom patterns are me experimenting with brighter colours to match the sand in the daytime and the top pattern is darker coloured sand colours to try and match it to the late night lighting.

I wasn’t happy with the colours not matching well with the sand so I don’t think I’ll be using those designs for Serenity. Maybe it’s the perfectionist in me that isn’t pleased that the colours don’t blend together well with the sand for what I want to use them for. 😛 I’ll include a QR code of these designs over on the AC:NL QR codes page in case anyone might like them for their towns. 🙂

I think the daylight sand colours blend well for daytime. Maybe the darker version blends better for Winter? The sand goes more cool-toned during that season.

I decided to add a rock garden just north of the fountain that I built not too long ago; I felt inspired to build this after seeing multiple rock garden builds on AC:NH islands.

I used flowers to map out where I wanted the rocks to be and then placed the rocks down using the Vapecord plugin, using a mixture of different rocks instead of the same type to make it look prettier and a little more “natural”.

I then filled the surrounding area with a sea of flowers and complimentary trees, I think the rock garden looks prettier without flowers inside of it so I decided to leave it empty. The rest of the town has no clear space so the ore rock spawns here in the middle— rather fitting though, I quite like it. 🙂

I decided to remove the dirt path custom designs from the fountain area that I built recently. I think the dirt paths look more natural and better in my opinion. I also removed the wisteria trellis public work project and replaced it with the rose flower arch— which looks a lot better.

The bushes aren’t in bloom as Serenity is currently now in July as I’m trying to catch the scorpion, no luck yet so far unfortunately though. Just tarantulas roaming around so far. Serenity must be infested with giant spiders at this point. 😛

The lighthouse public work project was also added to the southern part of Serenity, it’s just outside Apollo’s house nearby to a slope to reach Serenity’s warm southern beach. 🙂

I was inspired by Amy’s crescent moon garden in her main AC:NL town Citálune and wanted to recreate it Serenity for the moon/celestial theme. This is located at the bottom of Eclipse’s royal gardens surrounding the celestial castle of Serenity.

Although he’s canonically deceased in Serenity’s story, I decided to add Orion as a resident to Serenity.

His tent will serve a different purpose later towards the end of development of Serenity. I had to place his tent by the town hall before I moved it to the beach using the RAM save editor later.

I changed his outfit to be a formal regal white tuxedo and gave him a new hairstyle. He’s wearing a halo to not confuse visitors to the dream suite feature (when it gets brought back soon by Pretendo) that he’s still canonically deceased.

To my surprise, I discovered a Jacob’s Ladder (lily of the valley) had spawned outside Apollo’s house. This caught me off guard because I didn’t think I had enough public work projects in Serenity to even reach perfect town status yet.

Also, the Jacob’s Ladder is floating because Apollo’s house is too close to the cliff. 😛 Nothing gamebreaking though, just kinda glitchy with floating tiles.

I went to Isabelle to confirm if my town was perfect or not and well…

Serenity does have perfect town status! That was a pleasant surprise! 😮 Obviously Serenity has enough flowers and trees to reach perfect town status but I didn’t think I had anywhere near enough PWPs to reach it!

It was my first time seeing a rainbow in Serenity today! I took many photos and different locations with the rainbow in view. 🙂
